JEN Inc. Renews Website to Put Focus on Internet Solutions

Seattle – JEN Inc., a leading Japanese media company in the Pacific Northwest, has overhauled its corporate website,, to reflect its increased focus on Internet solutions and market entry.

JEN is best known among the Japanese communities in greater Seattle and Portland for its Youmaga monthly lifestyle magazine and its Japanese phone book, but the company has put increasing emphasis in recent months on Internet solutions, especially when it comes to helping American and Japanese companies improve their transpacific communication.

“Companies face a complex array of technologies these days when they try to get their message out,” says JEN founder and President Noriko Palmer. “On top of that, even small companies are venturing into foreign markets these days. It’s easy to lose your focus when confronted with a foreign culture and a slew of media platforms. That’s where we come in – clearing the way and facilitating communication across cultures and platforms.”

JEN Inc., founded in 1990, has its roots in Japanese-language radio and TV production. It launched Youmaga magazine in 1998. The company’s popular Japanese-language website about Portland and Seattle,, has seen its viewership grow to more than 30,000 unique visitors and 4 million hits each month.

The company’s new catch phrase – “where cultures and media converge” – is meant to acknowledge the way audio, video and print are all converging in digital formats. Small companies that can handle these different media, especially ones that are also fluent in other cultures, have a chance to greatly expand their market as businesses struggle to decipher everything from podcasting and RSS feeds to bilingual websites.
